I think of my work as a gesture in the air made of physical material but aspiring to be weightless, even spiritual, in content.
With this piece I was inspired by the movement of dancers, which is transient - compelling and moving (in both senses) - then lost in time. I felt it my task to capture that memory my eyes retained not in a representational way but purely emotionally through the medium of my hands and clay.
It is the transference from my visual perception into creating something for the viewer's eye that is new and fresh. A sharing via touch and, hopefully, touching from one human to another.

A punch of colour amongst the infinite shades of green: Patricia Volk’s vibrant ceramic forms come alive as leafy shadows dance across the surface. Playful juxtapositions of colour and form seek to capture the viewers’ attention - challenging stereotypes and traditional narratives frequently associated with ceramics.
Volk's sculptures often focus on the relationships between vivid colours, abstract shapes, or by celebrating the beauty and simplicity of a single form.
Vikki, Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden
A group of abstract objects in striking colours with flat planes designed to catch the light. They all have their different characters as individuals but nevertheless come together to make a unified whole with a bond of strength and support. They are meant to be viewed equally as seven sculptures, or in smaller groups, or as individual pieces. The juxtaposition of colours and shapes is infinitely varied.
